Electric Motor Technician – EMT

The Electric Motor Technician assists with inspecting, troubleshooting, adjusting, repairing and other general tasks related to the maintenance and repair of large electric motors, systems and components on a variety of motors, using Personal Protection Equipment, in a safe and clean work environment according to detailed and OEM specifications, DMS Motor Solutions approved procedures, and customer specifications. In addition, this position prepares and completes appropriate documentation and training logs in a timely manner; and may perform as a Qualified Inspector (QI).

Essential Job Functions

1. With limited supervision, assists in high quality inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintaining of electric motors, systems and components on a variety of motors and generators using proper tools and equipment in a timely, clean, safe and professional manner. Accurately orders required parts as needed.
2. With limited supervision, prepares various documents required by Company policy and associated Customer Nuclear regulations. Demonstrates proficiency of DMS Motor Services quality documentation system by completing accurate and timely discrepancies and necessary corrective actions.
3. Locates and uses appropriate technical data, follows verbal instructions and accepts directions from other shop personnel when accomplishing assigned maintenance tasks.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Specific Requirements

Licenses/Certificates: Mobile and Overhead Crane Certification; Fork Lift qualified; Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; tool inventory per department tool list required.
Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; overnight and short notice travel required
Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with component maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting. DMS has a mandatory random drug screening program.
Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and in noisy environments
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st and 2nd shift

Education and Experience

Mechanical Technician I: Rate $20.00 per hour
• High School graduate or equivalent required
• 3+ years electric motor maintenance experience required

Mechanical Technician II: Rate $25.00 per hour
• High School graduate or equivalent required
• 5+ years electric motor maintenance experience

Mechanical Technician III: Rate $30.00 per hour
• High School graduate or equivalent required
• 7+ years electric motor maintenance experience required

Master Technician: Rate $35.00 per hour
• High School graduate or equivalent required
• 10+ years electric motor maintenance experience required

Electric Motor Winder – EMW

The Electric Motor Winder assists with inspecting, troubleshooting, adjusting, repairing and other general tasks related to the maintenance and repair of large electric motors and generators electrical winding system, systems and components on a variety of motors, using Personal Protection Equipment, in a safe and clean work environment according to detailed and OEM specifications, DMS Motor Solutions approved procedures, and customer specifications. In addition, this position prepares and completes appropriate documentation and training logs in a timely manner; and may perform as a Qualified Inspector (QI).
